The Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Youth Squad & Explorer Post 7380 is made up of youth members, aged 14-17 who volunteer their time to support the ambulance corps, promote community involvement, and develop positive social interactions with peers.  Many Youth Squad members have moved on to careers in medicine, nursing, law enforcement, fire services, and EMS.

The Youth Squad trains its members in EMS skills, including CPR certification, defibrillation, safely moving patients, splinting, oxygen delivery and dispatching.

Youth Squad Members also:

        Assist at community special events

        Aid in fundraising efforts

Train other local youths in first aid & emergency preparedness

Our Youth First Aid Competition (Drill) Team is a group of Youth Squad Members who receive additional training in EMS Skills, comparable to that of Emergency Medical Technicians. This team has consistently received awards at the Pulse Check Drill Competition hosted by the New York State Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Association.

In 2014, our Youth Squad was recognized as the Youth Squad of Excellence by the New York State Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Association. In 2017, our Drill Team successfully obtained first place at the New York State Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Association’s Drill Competition.
